As you grow older, you begin to understand that although maturity does not come with age, it does come with life experiences, which you gain as the years go by.
As you grow older you realize that what you look like becomes less significant and what you are becomes more important. You will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others.
As you grow older, you realize that even the person you love the most will probably let you down. You will blame a new love for things an old one did. You will have your heart broken a few times and it gets harder every other time. You will break hearts too, so remember how it felt when your own heart was broken. You will cry because time is passing too fast but always love like you have never been hurt.
As you grow older, your priorities will change; nights out are swapped for nights in; your circle gets smaller; games, drama, and partying every weekend just aren’t entertaining enough. You get to a point where it’s quality over quantity; like your career, relationships, home, and family. You now seek quality; something that’s yours, something that’s real, something you can grow, something you are proud of. As you grow up you want a future, not just for now. As you grow up, things change, you change, and you start to like it that way.
As you grow older, you realize there are no mistakes in life, just lessons. You will fight with your best friend and dine with your worst enemy. So take many pictures, laugh too much because every sixty seconds you spend upset is one minute of happiness you will never get back.
As you grow older, you realize that having the ability to make others laugh is not just a talent but a gift and being able to laugh at yourself is equally as precious. Laughter will get you through the darkest night and challenging days. A good laugh will increase your self-confidence, lower your stress level and at least give you some time away from the troubles of this world. Laughing gives you the permission to be yourself, which is one of the reasons it’s therapeutic. We reveal our true emotions only after we feel safe and happy.
As you grow older, you will realize that entertaining ignorance is a waste of time. Time that could be spent on more productive things.
As you grow older, you realize it becomes less important to have more friends and more important to have real ones. People nowadays don't know the true meaning of friendship and loyalty. People always suddenly miss you more once they see how much happier you are without them. The only people worthy to be in your life are the ones that help you through the hard times.
As you grow older, you realize your true self and what you want, and then you will realize that the people you have known forever don’t see things the way you do. So you keep the wonderful memories, but find yourself moving on.
As you grow up you will realize that life is too complex and you don’t have to worry about everything. Life is extremely complicated but things will always work out in the end. You can create whatever life you want, and if you create that life and it doesn’t work, you can create a whole new life. You may not have a choice in things that happen to you but you have a choice in how you react to them. Try to stay positive no matter what life throws at you. And if you stay open, no matter what life throws at you, the more you will get out of it.
