NIGERIAN MOVIE STAR OMOTOLA JALADE-EKEINDE MAKES TIME 100 MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE IN THE WORLD LIST

Nigerian Screen goddess and Queen of Nollywood Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has been named as an Icon on Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World list for 2013.

This year's list categorized the personalities into five groups - Titans, Pioneers, Leaders, Icons and Artists. Omotola was named in the ICONS category which also has renowned personalities such as Beyoncé, Mario Balotelli, Kate Middleton, and Michelle Obama in a list released by TIME magazine earlier this month.

Speaking in an interview with UK based Zoomin TV at the 2013 TIME 100 Gala at the Frederick P. Rose Hall Home of Jazz, at Lincoln Center in New York on Tuesday, April 23 2013, the award winning actress said the nomination means everything to her.

The actress added that “I mean I am coming from Africa and the people who have been on this list in time past have been politicians. I think I'm the first artiste, actress to be on this list so I think it will encourage a lot of young people and a lot of artistes really. I'm extremely happy to motivate people…We all read about it, it seems so far away…and so to be here is so serious. It's a dream come true.”

OmoSexy as she is fondly called by her fans, has made over 300 productions since her 1996 debut with Mortal Inheritance. Apart from her prolific acting roles, Omotola is also a singer and reality-show star. The mother of four is married to Captain Matthew Ekeinde and is the founder of the Omotola Youth Empowerment Programme.
