SOCIAL MEDIA WEEK DEBUTS IN LAGOS

For the first time, Africa will partake in a global conversation that examines the cultural and economic impact of social media in our lives. From February 18 to 22, Nigeria’s commercial capital, Lagos, will join nine other cities to participate in the 2013 Social Media Week.
The cities are Copenhagen, Hamburg, Miami, Milan, New York, Paris, Singapore, Tokyo, and Washington DC and Lagos. After a five year run, Social Media Week will make its debut in Africa, owing to the vision of co-producing firms, Dragon Africa and AFRIKA21.

“I am truly excited to have succeeded to bring this event home to Lagos, the largest black city in the world, I believe that we Nigerians are viral in social media and this event will showcase all the innovative ways we are using social media to impact our daily lives, it is only proper that this event should be coming to Lagos as its first African destination,” Obi Asika, founder of Dragon Africa said. Mr. Asika also serves as the 2013 Social Media Week chairperson.
