NIGERIANS RULE FORBES AFRICA RICH LIST

For those who keep doubting that Nigeria is truly the giant of Africa, you need to hear this. Forbes Africa has recently released the list of 40 richest men in Africa and our own Aliko Dangote is on top of the list again. This time he made it alongside 10 other Nigerians.

Dangote topped the list for the second year running with a net worth of $12 billion from $10.1 billion in November 2011. According to the Forbes Africa report, his net worth was measured from the popular product like Dangote Cement, Sugar and Flour which operates in over 14 African countries and many others around the globe.

The other Nigerians who make the list include Mike Adenuga of Globacom who is ranked 5th with a net worth of $4.6 billion from telecoms and oil; Jim Ovia who ranks in the 19th position with a net worth of $825 million; Abdulsamad Rabiu, who heads the BUA Group who is ranked 21st with a net worth of $675 Million; top fashion designer, Folorunsho Alakija who is ranked 24th with a net worth of $ 600 Million and former defence minister Theophilus Danjuma with a net worth of $600 Million.

Others include Honey Well Group founder, Oba Otudeko with an estimated net worth of $575 Million; Mohammed Indimi who is ranked 27th with a net worth of $550 Million; O.B. Lulu-Briggs is ranked 31st with a net worth of $500 Million; Sani Bello one-time ambassador to Zimbabwe with a net worth of $425 Million and ranked 37th and finally Hakeem Bello-Osagie, a Harvard-trained petroleum economist is ranked 40th and valued at $400 Million.

My prayer is that when the list is released next year, half of the bunch would be Nigerians and hopefully more Nigerian women too.
