NIGERIA: ERNST & YOUNG HONOURS DANGOTE, IBRU, OTHERS



President, Dangote Group, Mr. Aliko Dangote, Mr. Goddie Ibru, and others have been honoured with the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for West Africa held in Lagos.

Speaking at the award ceremony, the Regional Managing Partner, West Africa, Ernst & Young, Mr. Henry Egbeki, said the award was to celebrate the winners for their contribution in creating value and wealth through employment in West African region.
He stated that those that were selected had been able to turn challenges to opportunities over the years. Egbeki pointed out that the award would enable the awardees to compete globally in Montreal, Canada next year.
He noted further that there is no short cut to greatness, but through hard work. He hinted that with what is happening in the region, the world should expect more from Africa.




On his part, Ibru, who won the Life Achievement award, commended Ernst & Young for their contribution towards developing entrepreneurship in the region.
Representing Dangote, who won the Masters Award at the event, Group Managing Director of the company, Mr. Knut Ulvmoen, said the award was deserving because it is to shows the world that Africa could compete globally in terms of business investment any where in the world.
He further said it was a way to help create more jobs in the region and beyond and added that in Canada, the awardees will compete well because they all have what it takes to do so.
However, the Managing Director, Interswitch, Mr. Mitchel Elegbe, who won the Emerging Entrepreneurial award, said he felt so good for the award because it came at a time when his company clocked 10 years.
Others who won different category of awards were the Managing Director, Nestoil, Mr. Ernest Azudialu; Managing Director, CAL Bank, Mr. Frank Adu; Managing Director, FIO Enterprises, Mr. Adelaide Ahwireng, amongst others.
