WORLD AIDS DAY NOVELTY MATCH: OKOCHA SCORES HAT-TRICK AGAINST NOLLYWOOD STARS




Nigeria football maestro Austin Okocha has not lost his mastery of the round leather game as he netted a hat-trick over the weekend against selected Nollywood Stars in a novelty football match to commemorate this year’s World AIDS day.



The Okocha led other past Super Eagles players which included Daniel Amokachi, Taribo West, Celestine Babayaro, Benedict Akwuegbu, Jonathan Akpoborie, Mobi Oparaku, Emeka Ezeugo, Teslim Fatusi, Abdul Isah, Taiwo Enegwa and Emmanuel Babayaro.



The Segun Arinze Nollywood Stars included Uti Nwachukwu, Nonso Diobi, Yul Edochie, Femi Brainard, Yemi Blaq, Afeez Ayetoro, John Njama, Afaemena Igwemba (Klint da Drunk), Jude Abaga (M.I), Abolore Akande (9ice), ID Cabasa and Olanrewaju Fasasi (Sound Sultan).

The event tagged “Play for Life” aimed to advocate for improved support, care and non-discrimination of people living with HIV/AIDS, was organized by Friends of the Global Fund Africa (Friends Africa) in partnership with its ambassador Emmanuel Babayaro and Coca Cola. The novelty match was played at the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos; had as special guest former Nigerian Head of State, Yakubu Gowon.

According to the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Friends Africa Nigeria, Akudo Ikemba, the match is a dream come true. It ended 9-3 in favour of the former Super Eagles. Very few people would have expected a different result. Kudos to Nollywood Stars, una try!
